Key Message

Greed produces affliction; where greed is removed, there is the Way. The Way is everywhere — in every mind freed from craving.

When a monk practices the Way, there is no defilement or staining — but if a mind of greed and desire exists, affliction arises.

When a monk practices the Way, there is no defilement or staining — but if a mind of greed and desire exists, affliction arises. Therefore, when the greedy mind is removed, that is where the Way is — and the Way is everywhere, leaving no place unoccupied. The Way does not exist in some special place but is omnipresent in the mind freed from greed. This is the heart of the teaching: practice occurs wherever the mind is, and where greed is absent, the Way is present.
