Key Message

For the practitioner, desire is fire approaching dry grass. The moment it is seen, move far away immediately.

The Way-practitioner is like someone covered in dry grass — when fire comes, they must immediately flee.

The Way-practitioner is like someone covered in dry grass — when fire comes, they must immediately flee. A practitioner of the Way, upon seeing desire, must certainly move far away from it. Just as fire spreads instantly through dry grass, desire can overwhelm the practitioner in a moment. The wisdom of practice is to recognize desire the instant it appears and immediately create distance from it.
