▸Section twelve enumerates twenty difficulties encountered in life.
Section twelve enumerates twenty difficulties encountered in life. It is difficult to give when poor; difficult to study the Way when powerful and wealthy; difficult to face death with resolve; difficult to encounter Buddhist scriptures; difficult to be born in the age of a buddha; difficult to endure desire; difficult to see good things and not crave them; difficult to be insulted and not become angry; difficult to have power and not dominate others; difficult to remain unmoved when events arise. By presenting these twenty difficulties, the Buddha invites direct confrontation with the real challenges of practice, and through that confrontation, deepens the practitioner's commitment.
