▸In Section 13 the title of the sutra is at last revealed.
In Section 13 the title of the sutra is at last revealed. When Subhuti asks, 'What shall this sutra be named, and how should we receive and uphold it?', the Buddha answers: 'This sutra is named the Vajracchedikā-prajñāpāramitā — the Diamond That Cuts Through Illusion — and by this name you should receive and uphold it.' Yet the text immediately presents the paradox: 'The prajñāpāramitā spoken of by the Buddha is not in reality prajñāpāramitā; it is called prajñāpāramitā.' The text then applies the jí fēi / shì míng (即是非~是名~) formula to the world, to dust particles, and to the thirty-two marks: the Tathāgata's 'world' is not a world but is called a world; 'dust particles' are not dust particles but are called dust particles; the 'thirty-two marks' are not in reality marks but are called thirty-two marks.
