출애굽기 Chapter 35

Translation: ESV

1

Moses assembled all the congregation of the people of Israel and said to them, 'These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to do.'

Key Message

God's work is accomplished through the participation of the entire community together, and exact fulfillment of God's command is the key.

Exodus 35-40 is the section where the instructions of chapters 25-31 are actually carried out.

Exodus 35-40 is the section where the instructions of chapters 25-31 are actually carried out. 'Assembled all the congregation'—the construction of the tabernacle is not the work of certain craftsmen alone but a communal ministry in which the entire Israelite community participates. Moses' role in conveying God's commands to the whole congregation is emphasized.

2

Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.

Key Message

No holy ministry can take priority over the rhythm of rest that God has appointed, and rest is the precondition of ministry.

Before beginning tabernacle construction, the Sabbath command is repeated again.

5

Take from among you a contribution to the LORD. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the LORD's contribution: gold, silver, and bronze.

Key Message

True offering comes from a willing heart, not compulsion, and God receives what is given joyfully rather than reluctantly.

'Whoever is of a generous heart'—the offerings for the tabernacle had to come from voluntary will, not compulsion.

21

And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the LORD's contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments.

Key Message

When relationship with God is restored, worship and devotion naturally follow, and the freewill offering is a natural response to God's grace.

'Everyone whose heart stirred him'—the response of the Israelite people is remarkable.

30

Then Moses said to the people of Israel, 'See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.'

Key Message

Those chosen by God for ministry must be recognized before the community, and the authority of ministry comes from God's calling.

Moses introduces Bezalel to the whole congregation.
